Cheongyu

Times we spent together

Stay Total Design

DESIGN NOTE

A friendly and simple neighborhood surrounded by history, Myeongju-dong. At the foot of an alley where old houses are gathered around each other's shoulders, one can see the green gate house "Cheongyu". The meaning of Cheongyu is to play small, clean, and ungodly. The host's attempt was to reinterpret the freshness of the experience he had when he first encountered this place synesthetically by comparing it to an experience I had at a stream as a child. Here in Cheongyu, he hopes to reminisce about the green summer days of my childhood and make memories of chatting with old friends.

It is better to spend more time together when you are together rather than enjoying the facilities alone since Cheongyu connects two houses, the main building, and the detached house. The main building, which is welcomed by friendly tiles, already has Cheongyu, where green and light groups flow over the waves. There is a space called Cheongyusu (meaning 'water') where you can enjoy a sip of savory tea while listening to the sound of water flowing between the stones and talk about small things while playing with water. Plants grow in the garden, creating a variety of light shadows at every moment, and a picnic kit is available so that you may enjoy a light picnic on the wide plain. This garden is colorful throughout the year. The story of Gangneung has been layered throughout Cheongyu like a treasure hunt, and at the end of the day, you can write a letter using a window frame as a desk in a detached house that resembles a hut.
